Intelli-Hood FAQs

There are several connections that go to a Intelli-Hood system. It is important to verify that all the cables are shielded and tight with no corrosion. Watch this how-to video about cable connections.

Over the years, Melink has designed and implemented three Intelli-Hood systems: IH1, IH2 and IH3. While all work on the same basic principles, they DO NOT have the same parts or interfaces. Watch this video to learn how to identify your system.

  • Planning for Intelli-Hood installation involves several key steps:
    • Assessment: Contact us to evaluate your current kitchen setup and determine system compatibility.
    • Survey: Our team with conduct an on-site survey of your commercial kitchen to identify any additional concerns and to map out the installation process.
    • Scheduling: Coordinate with us to schedule installation at a time that minimizes disruption to your operations.
    • Installation: Our team completes the actual installation and system calibration.

By providing us with some basic information, our gurus can provide you an estimated cost range along with an energy savings analysis for your particular operation. We would need the following information:

  1. Number of hoods
  2. Hood configuration (i.e., wall, island, etc.)
  3. Number and size of exhaust collars on each hood
  4. Fan information (hp, voltage and approximate distance from hoods)
  • Intelli-Hood can be planned and installed at various stages:
    • During new construction design phases to maximize long-term energy savings.
    • During kitchen remodels when upgrades are being made to the commercial kitchen’s ventilation system.
    • Years after initial installation as a retrofit to existing hoods to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
