Over the years, Melink has designed and implemented three Intelli-Hood systems: IH1, IH2 and IH3. While all work on the same basic principles, they DO NOT have the same parts or interfaces. Watch this video to learn how to identify your system.

You can verify system operation through the Intelli-Hood control panel, which displays real-time data and system status. Regular maintenance checks and monitoring help ensure optimal performance. In addition to the control panel, users can access the online portal to receive system alerts and track performance remotely. There is also an option to enroll in active monitoring services, where our team will monitor your Intelli-Hood system to help identify and address issues proactively. • Intelli-Hood utilizes dual sensing to monitor cooking activity and implements VFDs (variable frequency drives) to modulate the exhaust fan speeds. This demand control ventilation system reduces energy consumption by operating fans only as needed, enhancing efficiency and comfort in commercial kitchens. • The installation duration for Intelli-Hood varies based on the complexity and size of your kitchen ventilation system, as well as the number of optics required. Typically, instillations are completed within a few days, minimizing disruption to your operations. • Yes, you can install Intelli-Hood on your existing hood. Intelli-Hood is designed to be retrofitted into nearly any existing kitchen exhaust hood, regardless of the manufacturer, allowing for energy savings without the need for a complete hood replacement.

• This statement is false. Intelli-Hood utilizes both temperature and optic sensors to optimize hood fan speeds, offering more precise control compared to systems that rely solely on temperature sensors. Dual sensing allows the exhaust fans to modulate down to a low idle speed when cooking activity is minimal resulting in significant energy savings. Temperature-only systems may react slowly because cooking effluent appears before temperature changes are apparent, making them less efficient. • If your Intelli-Hood’s optic sensor isn’t functioning properly, consider the following steps:
  • Check for obstructions: Ensure there are no items like Ansul pipes, pots, or pans blocking the sensor’s infrared beam.
  • Clean the sensors: Dirty lenses can impede functionality. Polish with a clean, or slightly damp, soft cloth.
  • Verify cable connections: Ensure that cables are securely connected on both the optic boards and the hood controller.
  • Check alignment: Use the system’s online portal to assess gain/voltage levels and adjust alignment as needed.
  • Inspect for faults: If the system displays messages like “Emitter Missing” or “Receiver Missing,” it indicates issues with the respective components.
