FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CINCINNATI, OH — September, 19, 2011 — Melink Corporation’s Prius Fleet has been designated as an “Ohio Green Fleet” by Clean Fuels. The Ohio Green Fleets program recognizes fleets efficiency and environmental performance and provides a community service by improving air quality and reducing Ohio’s dependence on imported petroleum.
Melink earned designation as a five-star Ohio Green Fleet. Fleets are evaluated based on policies they have implemented to reduce vehicle emissions and reliance on petroleum fuels. Melink provides hybrid cars for its sales team, regional supervisors, technicians, and the leadership team, and incentives are also provided each year to employees to purchase their own hybrids.
Ohio Green Fleets is a comprehensive program designed by Clean Fuels Ohio to improve the environmental performance and efficiency of public and private fleets. The Ohio Green Fleets program consists of three core components:
1. Direct consultation with fleet managers to develop a Green Fleet management plan tailored to specific organizational needs.
2. Hands on support and assistance with implementation, including assistance in seeking grant funding to reduce implementation costs.
3. Recognition of environmental leaders through a Five-Star rating system that scores fleets based on measurable reductions in vehicle emissions and improvements in efficiency.
Since its launch in August 2008, Ohio Green Fleets program has engaged hundreds of fleets across the state in workshops, seminars and individual meetings. This work has resulted in the active enrollment of 140 public and private organizations—all of who have provided fleet data and begun the process of earning Ohio Green Fleet certification. The 32 designated Ohio Green Fleets have displaced a combined total of 4,814,095 gallons of petroleum and eliminated over 180 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx), 6 tons of particulate matter (PM 2.5), 14.9 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and 32,187 tons of carbon dioxide.
